13th craft art DOLL “Matching” concours Guidelines

Purpose of the Competition

This competition aims to provide aspiring professional doll artists with a platform to showcase and sell their creations. Through a “Matching & Market” system, we connect doll artists with dealers and offer the public an opportunity to purchase unique dolls.

Eligibility Criteria

Ability to sell your works
●No restrictions on age, gender, or experience
●All genres and materials are welcome
●Works do not need to be unpublished
●Understanding and agreement with the competition’s matching and sales objectives

Any discriminatory or aggressive expressions are strictly prohibited. As the final exhibition is open to the public, works that are excessively sexual or violent will be either rejected or exhibited in a zoned section

Entry Period

August 1 to August 31

Entry Fee: ¥2,000

Provide your name and contact information; no need to submit photos at this stage

Preliminary Review Submission

November 3 to November 9

Submit photos of up to 3 works intended for exhibition

For preliminary screening, you may submit up to 3 works (only as many as you intend to exhibit). Submissions must be the actual works for the final exhibition—no similar works will be accepted.

Final Review Selection Notification

Early December

Judges will select works they wish to review in person

All applicants will be notified of the results; those not selected will receive brief feedback

at RIHGA Royal Gallery

Exhibition Guidelines

Exhibition Fees
Booth: ¥20,000, size 150×60cm(Tokyo) , 120×60cm(Osaka)
Single Piece: ¥9,000 per piece
Delegated Setup and Takedown (single piece only): ¥12,000
If you are shipping your works, you are responsible for all shipping costs, both to and from the venue.

Exhibition Requirements
Booths can display multiple items, including accessories and postcards
Single-piece displays cannot include sets or non-doll items
Large works (over 40cm in width) are recommended for booth display

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I apply if I haven’t decided on the exhibition format or venue?
A: Yes. The initial application collects preliminary information. You can finalize your exhibition format and venue before the preliminary review in November.

Q: When do I pay the exhibition fees?
A: Pay the ¥2,000 entry fee during the application period. If selected after the preliminary review, we will notify you in December to pay the appropriate exhibition fee.

Q: Can I exhibit as a team?
A: Yes. If your work is a collaboration (e.g., clothing made by another person), please indicate this during application. The evaluation will be conducted as a team unit.

Q: What happens if my work is sold?
A: Your work will be displayed during the exhibition. Afterward, please prepare a box for packaging. We will provide an outer box and handle the shipping. For sold works, you will receive 55% of the final sale price.
